1994 850 Turbo, Turbo not working properly

Post by kaleb1996 »

Hi,
I am 17 years old so if I don't describe things that don't make sense I'm sorry I'm not very car savvy yet.
Anyways I have a 1994 850 turbo. i have timed my 0-60 at around 8.5 seconds and i'm not sure why it is so slow. from things i have read on here many things about checking all the vacuum hoses and such to see if my turbo is working properly. when i am driving my turbo gauge goes just maybe a 1/8th of an inch into the white area. when my car shifts into 2nd gear the car pulses almost as though the transmission is slipping briefly. if i slowly accelerate the pulse seems to be far less almost unnoticeable. i have looked at all the hoses and there is only one hose that i have found to have a large hole in it. it is the hose that connects to the throttle body. is this why all of this is happening or could it be a larger problem? if you need more details or have any questions ask i will try to answer them to the best of my ability thanks for the help!

Welcome to the Forum and thanks for breaking the stereotype that young people can't write clear concise sentences. :-)

That hole in your induction (air) system is most certainly contributing to a poor running engine at high performance. All that beautiful boost your turbo is pumping out is flowing out the hole. In addition, your car is sensing the air the turbo is pulling in, and pumping gas to mix with it, but it isn't reaching the cylinders, so your engine is probably running rich in mixture too.

Replace that holey hose ASAP. Get the clamps nice and tight so they don't pop off.
