1997 850 cruise control stopped working

Hey,

The cruise control on my 1997 850 wagon has given out completely this past week, after working intermittently for a few months. I've never had problems with cruise before so I don't really know where to begin with troubleshooting it, and any suggestions would be awesome!

For a while it would work sometimes and not others, working less and less in the past month. Usually if it was working it would keep working until I turned it off. When it didn't work, no amount of turning the switch off and on again would get to start working.
Now it doesn't work at all.

Ideas? Thanks!

checked everything on mine no luck, still not working. If you have a bad ABS module will it cause the cruise to quit working as well?

Update:

My cruise control has started working again, most of the time. I've done absolutely nothing - in fact I haven't even had time to go investigate any of the possible problem areas. Well, I guess I'll leave it be until it decides to quit working again.....
