2000 c70 seat skins replacement

Post by mikel »

I did recover my seats in the c70 got all the hog rings on but can figure out the plastic seam that closes the upper skins. The plastic edges lock together but I can seem to figure it out. Looks like some sort of locking Z with the plastic edges sewn onto the leather.

I'm taking pictures.

the piece under my thumb seems to go into the part above my hand but it does not stay. Then the top piece covers all of it?

There must be a tool for this--like a steel band you pull out the end once it is all locked down. You might visit an auto upholstery shop to inquire. I don't remember what my '96 has, but for sure it wasn't that system.

I do remember realising why these cars are so darn comfortable...all the materials were highest quality and no craftsmanship was spared in construction.

To connect the base of the seat skin you put the front part in position, tucked under the seat back. The rear part then come forward under it, then the edge (male) gets bent back (toward rear) so the plastic strip will insert into the front (female). I'm attaching some pictures that may help.
