1995 850 Turbo Manual swap brake light switch
Hey guys, I'm currently in the middle of doing a manual swap on my car and I ran into a little problem, the automatic brake pedal assembly has a square hole (blue arrow) where the brake light switch (green circle) fits into but the manual pedal assembly has a circle instead of a square (red arrow).. I believe that the manual assembly came with a round brake light switch (below red arrow) but the plug is completely different than the square switch from the auto.. The auto's switch has 4 connectors and two on the manual switch.. Do I need to splice some wires, buy a new brake light switch etc? Thanks in advance!

It looks like you already have the manual brake light switch on that pedal cluster? I would just use that.

I was planning to do that but the thing is that the connector different, my car has a connector with 4 wires and the manual switch only has two..abscate wrote:It looks like you already have the manual brake light switch on that pedal cluster? I would just use that.

I think you are going to run into this a lot during a swap. The car is wired for all kinds of things for the automatic that you will not have, so you will need a wiring diagram and thinking cap to sort that out.

I've looked all over the net and it seems like I'm the only one to have this problem while doing the swapabscate wrote:I think you are going to run into this a lot during a swap. You should have both the brake switch and then vacuum switches for both the clutch and the brake that trip the cruise control off. I would need to look at the schematics but chances are that the 2 pole switch with the automatic has one circuit for the brake light and then another circuit that goes to the automatic TCU to trigger the torque converter lock-up solenoid to disengage. The torque converter lock up obviously goes away with the manual transmission.

Couple of other things to worry about
Clutch switch to cut out cruise control
Clutch start inhibit switch..I guess you could skip this
Reverse light switch wiring
Bypass PNP switch

Hey guys I've solved the issue, I found the two wires that controls the brake lights.. There was a green wire, blue with yellow stripe, solid red, and a solid yellow wire. The yellow and red operates the brake lights while the green operates the shift safety lock and the blue with yellow stripe probably goes to the TCU lockup that Lee mentioned. Also, I'm probably gonna pull the cruise control out of the car since it never worked properly since I got the car though I feel like I might change my mind in the future and fix the whole thing lol but for now I'm not too worried about it.
