Wait a minute. It took 50,000 miles for the belt to walk half off the pulley - aren't you good for another 50,000 - 5000 mile safety margin ...or 45000 miles ???

My water pump took a dump on I-40.

LOL, you guys are funny. Half of the forum time should be spent having fun.
Yes I made it home yesterday. The trip from Oklahoma to New Mexico was about 600 miles. The car ran pretty warm the entire time. It was running at about 216 degrees and when up to about 224 while climbing hills. Once or twice it got as warm as 242. I think I peaked at about 7,000 feet. My guess is that I am at about 25% coolant 75% water mix. The temperature was about 97 degrees and I was boosting a lot pulling the 5x8 enclosed U-Haul trailer.

Now that's a proper tow vehicle!
Are you using the 87C or 90C thermostat? For me down here in FL, the 90C is stupid hot for a turbo, the 87C is silly hot for a turbo and I bet NM is not much different as far as weather. Minus the 9000% humidity.
Did you have your scan tool monitoring the water temp while you were driving?

Yes, I had to swap that pump out in the parking lot with a trailer hooked up to the car. You can't drop those trailers until they are empty.
I use a ScanGauge all the time. I actually seen the temp dropping on the ScanGauge before I seen the low coolant light.
I use a 87c thermostat. It starts opening at about 182f and is fully open at 192f I believe.
This was the gauge view after I installed the water pump, about 100 miles down the road with the system finally burped the air into the bottle. So the coolant/water level was near the bottom making the low coolant light come on and go back off.
Current MPG - Average MPG for the current drive cycle
Horse Power being used - Engine coolant temp.

That's outstanding. There's nothing like having real numbers to warn when something funny is going on.
Having that gauge almost certainly prevented an overheat and blown heat gasket. Maybe you can get a paid endorsement out of it if you attest to how good their product is!

Man, my nick name is Rodney Dangerfield. Like these Volvo parts suppliers. I'm sure their sales are through the roof on parts for these cars from sites like this and my videos. But all I get is jacked up orders when I spend $700 at a time while dumping their parts into restoration projects. Then when I call and ask how my order got f'd up they blame me and don't offer to fix it. No respect!

Hey Robert, you is 'da man of the hour for pulling the panther through on this one. You got our respect.
Beside, you sow a lot of good seed--like your videos--and sooner or later you're going to reap a good harvest. When Matt set up this site about 10+ years ago it didn't have all this readership and sponsors. Good things come to those who wait.
