The time has finally come to sell my beloved 850, I have owned and maintained it since 1999 with 72,000 miles on it. This was my first car when I was 16 and since 2007 when I got my Civic Si it has been my Winter Car, each year seeing only 3-4000 miles. It is stored in the summers in a spare garage with a full tank of gas and stabil added. Ran a couple of times in the summer up to operating temp to keep the top end lubed.
Comes with two sets of tires, the ones pictured are Mille Miglia 16" wheels with Bridgestone Blizzacks WS-60 205/50 winter tires. Two tires a brand new as of this past winter and the other two have about two seasons on them. Also comes with the stock 15" rims and Dunlop D65 195/60 tires. I have not used these OEM wheels for many years, but they have been stored in a climate controlled garage and still have plenty of tread left on them.
Ill start with the bad first, as all Volvos of this age will have.
-Drivers side seat tilt motor is dead, it is stuck in a very comfortable upright position
-Nether Heated Seat works ( have a spare oem seat heating pad that I never got around to install)
-Headliner on sunroof cover has collapsed some in the middle ( I just keep the sunroof cover open and its not a problem)
-Small bit of rust on the drivers side quarter panel under the grey trim
-Koni shocks could use a rebuild (not necessary)
-Drivers side seat stitching tore a few years ago and I stitched it back together myself
- Volvo R front lip has taken a bit of a beating over the years and could use a respray
- Glove Box doesnt open.
- AC doesnt blow cold, since this was just my winter car I never tracked down the problem. It probably just needs a recharge as I had a leak fixed in 2005 and then recharged but not since then.
- Antenna motor is dead, antenna does not go up or down on its own
Now for the good.
Runs like it was new, I have always ran synthetic oil in it since I was 16, usually 5-6000 miles, always Mann oil filters.Last few years I have been running Rotella T6 5w-40 which it seems to like, never burns a drop in 6500 miles. Last oil change was 200 miles ago and I used the same Rotella T6 but added some Liqui Moly MOS2 to the oil as I have heard good things about it form Bob is the oil guy forums about reducing friction.
I am a professional independent car detailer. I always keep my cars meticulously clean. Volvo has always been polished and sealed before winter time, usually using Menzerna polishes and Klasses Sealant Glaze.Leather has always been kept clean and conditioned using Lexol products. Dash and all hard plastics have been kept clean and protected using 303 Aerospace protectant.
Ive always ran either 89 or 93 octane in it and I add about 2.5oz of TCW3 2 stroke motor oil to the gas for its lubrication properties to offset the ethanol in the gas. The ECU was tuned by ARD a few years ago for ethanol gas, I never really noticed a difference in any power or gas mileage.
Years ago I installed an Alpine 6 Disc cd changer located under the passenger seat which integrates into the stock radio controls.
Rear Bumper sag was fixed last April with new mounts and hardware.
