good evening everyone
i live in Nova Scotia , Canada and i am having a very difficult time locating a new generator for my 1965 Volvo P544 ... can find them in the US but most don't ship to Canada.
any help you could give me in locating one would be greatly appreciated ..
ps ... i love my volvo

For new I'd go to Olof at Vintage Imports in BC. http://www.vintageimportparts.com. He ships from Canada and if you're willing to wait it could be in NS in a few weeks.

Please private message me because I'm also from Nova Scotia and own a '63 544. Heck, you might have seen my metallic blue 544 on display in the New Glasgow dealership back in the 80s. We have much to discuss!

If 12 Volt system, have you considered using an alternator?

.. tks for the Olof tip , i have purchased from him before ... tried to private message you but couldn't make it work ...

.. can you get an alternator adapter kit to bolt on .. that would be great .. tks

I don't recall when Volvos (444/544) changed to 12 Volt systems.

But, I recently bought a B18 motor that has a Chrysler alternator on it.

But, using a GM alternator would be better since it is plug n play on electrical side.

Good find,

but as noted on ebay - "It works just fine but I wanted you to know it would not work with my Delco alternator....However I also had an old Motorola and an old Bosch and they both fit in every regard."

I'd look for GM kit...I know I could fabricate one, but...
