Re: 2002 S40 VADIS/DiCE
If you're going with the VM Ware it doesn't matter what you have installed on your own PC as long as you have an OS which is compatible with the VM Ware player.

Okay, it seems that Volvo VIDA / DiCE needs Internet Explorer 8 (and only Internet Exploere
to install and run. Any other verserion of Internet Explorer, say Internet Explorer version 9 will not work.
There is no version of Internet Explorer 8 for 64 bit Windows 7. There is IE version 8 one for Windows Vista and XP, but not 7 (regardless of the version). So what do I do? I want to install VIDA / DiCE on Windows 7, 64 bit, but there is no version of Internet Explorer 8 Windows 7, 64 bit.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Respectfully,

Run VM Ware image, problem solved.
It runs an image of a XP install with IE8, Net Framework 3.5 etc right on your Win 7 laptop.

How can the current version of my 64 bit Windows HomePremium with IE 11.0 exist with this
VM Ware image? That will have an image that is Windows Professional, 64 bit and IE 8.0.
Would there not be a conflict? Also, doesn't Microsoft have a copyright these images and no one else can just use them?
Finally, please give me a link as to where I can download VM Ware image online.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Search MVS for "VM Ware Image" or go here: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =9&t=55027
It's an image of XP running Vida with all requirements of Vida pre -installed and working. It's a little like connecting to somebody else's computer for tech support; you don't have to be running the OS they're running.
No-one said it's totally legit. It happens to be somebody's licensed copy of XP which has been shared out. To avoid licensing issues you can go into Control Panel of the XP image and disable network traffic which means it can't report to Big Brother. Also you can turn off updating in System Settings of XP.
It's about 10GB of download in 7 stages if I recall correctly. You need 7 Zip (Google search or here: http://www.7-zip.org/) to stitch the 7 pieces back together. Then you point VM Ware Player at the reconstructed image and it loads from 0-100% then it just looks like XP. You can minimise the XP image and work on Win 7. If you shut down the XP OS you can go into settings on the VM player and dedicate some more RAM to XP if you can spare it as it comes pre-allocated at 512MB.
Just remember to suspend the image before rebooting WIN 7. I have it running on my wife's Win 8 laptop and my own XP desktop (I don't want it to interfere with my accounting program or anything else so running on VM Ware is ideal)
I and others here have been using it with great success apart from losing the integrity of the image early on. Just keep the 9 pieces on a backup drive somewhere in case the image corrupts.
Hope this helps.
