1997 850 t5 hard shifting

1997 850 t5 hard shifting

Hey guys I bought this car 2 weeks ago and so far I am happy with it .
I changed the upper torque mount and the firewall mount bushing and the transmission mount to the IPD hd kit all polyurethane stuff and I am still feeling a hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear.
Am I missing something?

Have you done a fluid change?

I agree with rspi, you should check your tranny fluid. Do you have any record of when it was changed the last time? If not, see if it is really dark in color and if it smells bad. If that's the case, don't do a flush, rather do a few "drain and fills" until things clear up. How many miles are on this car?

Keep in mind that with all of those poly mounts, even smooth shifting is going to feel pretty jerky in the cabin, anyway. I agree with the trans fluid suggestions.

If it's shifting out of 1st above 3000 RPM, the shift will always be a bit "rough" by most AT standards.

However, a fluid change is overlooked maintenance by most owners.

well my mechanic checked the trans fluid and its clean
the retarded owner before me used to put regular oil on this t5 so i dunno if he was taking care of it or not .
the car has 117k on it .
