1998 V70AWD Rumbel in the Back Seat

Post by flyingswede »

I've got a rumbel that starts at 60mph it ends at 75mph. It sounds like it's coming from the back seat area. Could it be my drive shaft bearing, Ive got 225,000 on the car.

Pull the drive shaft and see.
It may be something farther back,
but that's a good place to start.

I agree. But when you pull the drive/prop-shaft to the back, check the bearing at the front of the viscous coupling housing. This along with possibly the prop-shaft support bearing are a good bet. One other thing is to check the bush that mounts the front of the viscous coupling housing to the floor. They can fail and cause a drumming under the car.

Good luck!!

Neil.

Sorry for the long delay, work keeps getting in the way. The prop shaft support bearing is not in the best of shape. But I changed the end links with IPD brand rumble is gone. Prop shaft coming down this weekend. Thanks for the help.
