2003 S60 - shiftlock override?

Post by drr »

Hi -
There's no shiftlock override on my 03 S60 AWD. I think the transmission is locked but there's no way to shift to neutral? Key won't turn from #1 position to #2. No combination of braking, steering, or shifting works. All I can do is listen to the radio.

How do I override shiftlock on this car?!

I'm sorry, I don't know. Have you tried to really turn your steering wheel hard? I know that it is related.

I tried turning it until it didn't turn, and simultaneously either turning the key or trying to shift - i got the wheel turned all the way that it would go but nothing.

Check the button on the shiftknob.
They stick in occationally and if it IS stuck it will lock the car up.
If it is stuck, use a small tool to get it unstuck and then buy a new shift knob

I got the car to start by pressing hard on the brake (both feet) and turning the key much harder than I would have liked to. That at least got it started. The ignition still feels a little "sticky" so I'm bringing it in for service.
