2001 v70 transmission issue

My 01 v70 starts and goes fine. Stopped the car and when i put in reverse it wont move. Put in drive it wont move. Towed it home. Next morning it does the same thing. Maybe its an electronic issue. Has anyone experienced this?

I would rule out mechanical issues before I tackle the electrical or electronics:
Did you check your fluid level; how many miles; has fluid ever been changed?

To Regent: thanks for trying to help (text not meeting MVS criteria deleted)! I just bought the car. Fluid level is fine but smells burnt.

It would be the 2001 - 2007 section of the forum. Lee is doing you a favor by moving it so you get answers from people who are actually driving the same car as you.

As much as we are trying our best to help each other here, we all abide by the same forum rules.
There is also mutual respect and considerate usage of the English language, which I think we owe each other.

I do not see a reason to get upset with the Moderators when they are doing their job
