My 850 suffers the same problem as was discussed earlier - my heated seat is no longer heated. I checked and one of the two wires up the centre of the seat has come loose. So, how do I get the front seat out/off to try to fix the wire (the local Volvo dealership wants $196 to do this part)?
Any help will be appreciated as it is getting rather cold up here in Vancouver.

You can take the seat out, as I have -- and it's a big pain in the $%^&, or you can move it forward and up as much as it will go and reach your hand up the hole to get the thermostat.
It's a round metal piece like a very thick coin mounted in a larger-diameter plastic disk. You must pull out the disk with the t-stat.
Try this before removing the seat -- which involves:
disable side airbag by removing side plastic trim piece, then placing red saftey piece over round metal airbag trigger;
detach wire connections;
four anchoring bolts.

Your suggestion worked like a charm! I was able to fix my seat within half an hour.
