2002 S60 Noise and vibration in front end

When you replaced the axles, did you check the condition of the RH side support bearing? (These seldom fail but just in case)

I don't think it's a bushings or alignment issue. Haven't heard about this symptoms before, so it might not be something typical. Perhaps something inside the transmission. Make sure upper engine mount and front lower transmission mount are not busted.

The right side support bearing is part of the new axle. Even the old one seemed okay.
I kind of ruled out the bearings. Left and right sides were replaced about eleven months ago.
The roar and vibration does decrease when moving steering wheel slightly to the left or under brisk acceleration.
I will check the bushings again.

While the front end is in the air, I would doublecheck the RH axle bearing carrier bolts - just in case.
Also, I would look for excessive play across the differential (from wheel to wheel while in park).

However, from what was brought up this far it does sound more like a bearing. Even with quality OEM parts, once in a bue moon you may be out of luck and get a bad bearing

== Not the nicest, but a much better prognosis than having to go inside the transmission...

I had a vibration in front end thought it was bearing or drive axle, more noticeable when I had more weight in car. Just replaced transmission mount and it has solved the problem, no more vibration!
The smaller bushing was definitely shot!
