If a VM needs drivers, they're for the VM, not the host machine. But I can't speak directly on the subject of DiCE drivers because I've never run it.
The host's hardware is available to the VM as though the VM was the native/only operating system on the hardware.
VM's typically don't know they're a VM. They think they're the OS.

2010D runs fine on 32-bit XP Pro (I run it). I didn't like lower stability of newer VIDAs, which also require 64-bit Win7 (I had it too), and went back to older version, which is still good enough for my 2002 V70 and 2005 XC70.
DiCE didn't work inside virtual machine running under Linux KVM, either USB passthrough doesn't work well in KVM or DiCE driver does weird things.
