This is all great advice! Avidly watching the instructional videos. Thanks Dos and Timmy! Yes I just had a new radiator installed a few weeks ago at a "radiator' shop. From now on, only genuine Volvo parts and DIY. Car is now safely garaged (you should of seen the look on the garage owner face when I showed up with a flatbed) and we want to gently work on it at our leisure because we are, of course, novices. I never had a car I liked so much, and I have had several types including brand new cars I bought myself years past. It would be something else to fix it so it not only passes emissions but goes to 300,000. This state has people over a barrel in regards to emissions. Your car can't pass emissions, you can't register, you need the car to get to work, every garage promises you the moon, you sneak around praying you won't get caught as you drive it to work to save up the money to fix it even though it passed in other years and you faithfully paid the taxes and registration!
Advise on ramps and Volvo taken to heart.

Rebuild the trans cooler hoses for cheap (using generic trans hose at local store). Make sure you use new O-rings from Volvo dealer ($3/each or so). I wrote a very detailed DIY below.

My advice to OP: be realistic and figure the actual costs, you may need to buy some tools to do the DIY trans cooler lines (e.g. I do not own an angle grinder), if you need several of the clips and/or o-rings you will easily spend another $20, etc. You can save a bundle of money with DIY but there are no $10 magic bullets.
