1990 740GL fuel gauge sending unit

Post by 5ft24 »

Just put a new fuel pump in several weeks back, and now the gas gauge started only reading half tank... regardless of how much gas is really in there. SO, I need a new sending unit, but am finding they all come with a pump... Does anyone know of a part number for just the sending unit itself without the pump?
Thanks

Part book only shows complete unit: 3547205...part number is 3547205

My 940 always reads full, so I use the odometer-trip meter to keep track of it; if that would fail, I'd use a GPS unit; if that would fail, I'd fix it.

I'll just use the odometer for a while. Cheapest price I found is $249 and free shipping from Marietta Volvo

I think a local Volvo owner installed a pump on a Regina 745, and he screwed the float pooch; but he removed it again, and got it fixed.

It has to be reinserted correctly, iirc.

Finally pulled the unit again. Must have bumped it going in the last time, as the 2 sections of the sending unit tube had separated. Got it back together, checked with an ohm meter, reinstalled and all is working right
