Sign on dashboard. What it means?

Post by andichan2001 »

Whenever I push the brake, this sign shows in the dashboard:

Could you tell me what it means, cause I don't have the manual.
And what should I do?

(I have volvo 960GL)

Thanks,
Joseph

One brake light is not working! Probably the light bulb is broken. Best thing is to change bulbs at both sides simoultaniously, otherwise maybe the indication will stay on. Volvo has an automatic light bulb supervision ( very good, but also sometimes causing problems). If it would have been one broken head light, the indication would have stayed on as long as the head light would be on.
The prinicple for the system is that a relay checks that the current for the lights on left and right side of the car must be equal, otherwise the sign is on and proably a bulb is broken. It could also sometimes be a bad connection in the holder for the not working light bulb
