New Member's Posts Disappear

Post by WagonLagan »

Greetings,

I'm new to the forums and had registered and donated not long ago in appreciation of how much of a help everyone here was when replacing my PCV system in my Volvo (my first attempt at a big car repair).

Unfortunately, I have another issue and attempted to make a new post, but it just seems to disappear after I click Submit.

I even see the subject in the upper ticker bar: 1998 V70 T5 Electrical Issue. Dim Lights, Instruments.

I'm quite confused. Is this something to do with me being a new member? I did read the rules and etiquette and found no information about that. I know I'm not allowed to send Private Messages yet, but can I make New Posts?

Any help or information about that would be greatly appreciated, as I can really use some advice with my electrical issue.

Thanks a lot! :)

Hi Wagon

First posts need moderator approval. I just put back up a notice on the registration page, which somehow disappeared in the server move two weeks ago.

And the ticker... I'm going to exclude non-approved posts from that today. Thanks for the polite post about this!

Matt,

Thanks very much for the fast reply. I see my other post has gone up as well. Sorry for the double Submit, but I thought it might be an error on my end at first.

I should have realized the moderator approval thing, but it's been awhile since I've participated in any forum. One of the reasons I was happy to join with this one was for how polite and kind everyone is!

I had sent you a Technical Support email, I'd bet you already identified it since it said the same thing as here. Obviously I won't need that anymore. :)

One question I have is how do I get the MVS Contributor icon? I was happy to donate and I hope it'll encourage others to as well when they see that!

I sure hope I can learn from and eventually contribute to this wonderful wealth of information you've cultured.

Thanks again Matt!

You sure sound enthusiastic, so I'm sure you're on your way to helping others, however little at first. :-)

* ;-) kidding. Donate $5 or more. Or do a writeup with photos on a Volvo repair procedure.

Awesome! I had donated exactly $5 back on September 7th (wow it was that long ago?) when I did my PCV job. Should I PM you the Paypal Unique Transaction ID or something so you can verify? :) It was from a different email than I have on this site.

All set :-) Thanks for letting me know.

To everyone, not just Wagon: There is no automatic system to link a PayPal donation to your MVS Forums account. Typically I'll do a search on the donation email "From" address against the MVS Forums userlist. If there is no match, I'll email back that From address asking if they have a Forums account, and go from there, etc.
