I've been hanging out at the XC Forum, but in searching your archieves, it seems like this forum has more nuts and bolts mechanical info.
I took my 2000 XC to the dealer and asked them to reseal the turbo return line. The mechanic said the line was already sealed and dry. Hmmm. When I crawl under my car to check for the leak that is pooling on the garage floor, there is and oil drip on the bottom of the turbo housing. It seems to be leaking from above, but it's hard to see what's up there. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Also, my XC has developed a knocking sound upon braking on the right rear side. I experimented with letting up on the brake and it stops and when I brake again it starts.
I checked out the archieves, but didn't find a clear answer to my questions.
I bought this car last summer and I have been going through it replacing things each payday. Every month it seems to give me something new to work on. Pretty soon it will be brand new.
Thanks again for any help.

It is actually quite common for a little oil to "film" on the turbo housing (air inlet side) but not for it to drip. There are two sides to the oil drain pipe...the engine side and turbo side. Your mechanic may not have checked the "further up" seal on the engine side. Also, you might have a different leak. I'd get a second opinion unless you want to spray everything down with a degreaser and hose and see where the leak is really coming from. The bumping sound of your breaks could be a number of things. I had a click once and it was the metal spring for the pad that had come loose...I had no noticeable vibration and visually found it and re-clamped the spring into place. If you're getting vibrations along with the sound you may have a sticking caliper.

Now that's a response. I'm hooked on this Forum already. Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking that the bumping sound might be a loose brake pad. Time for a visual inspection. It's been freezing here in Wyoming, so I've been putting off the work, waiting for some heat.
Thanks
