2003 s40 strut issue

I had the struts and mounts replaced about 8 months ago. Since the replacement the drivers side strut has creaked when going into driveways and over speedbumps. I took it back and he said that the springs were just rubbing on the new mounts and would eventually wear in. However they have not worn in and now the steering creaks when I turn to the left.

One other thing I noticed is that when you have the hood open and look at the top of the drivers side strut mount the strut thread does not sit centered in the mount as the passenger side does.

Any help anyone can give me or ideas of what to look at would be appreciated.

Perhaps the spring seat (the round rubber piece on top of the strut) has failed.
