My never ending (and always growing) to-do list on my 850

Post by drtrance »

Well I'm going to start stating that: "I love my Volvo"

Second I think I must really love it considering it gives me more to think in a given time than what my girlfriend does. Third it OWNS my money even before I earn it. Fourth it has so many issues that the only difference between owning a Volvo and being married is that no matter what you do you Volvo will be never nagging to you around the house.

My never ending list started with:

1) leather repair (pending a lot of even more expensive things arise every time)
2) front control arm issues (done twice the repairs... Guess what? There goes a third time soon)
3) changed the radiator twice...
4) heating seats stopped working( pending)
5) driver seat stopped working (fixed! Thanks to a great tutorial posted around here)
6) heat core replace (never connected hoses since O-rings where missing and did not find replacements)
7) glovebox broken (with important papers inside had to force it in an emergency to get papers out. Pending repair)
8) dashboard died (replacement done)
9) dashboard lights dim (haven't find the reason)
10) rear suspension shock absorbers repair (pending out of budget)
11) front shock absorbers leaked (repaired)
12) emergency brake cable getting stuck (pending)
13) ignition switch issues (soon to be replaced)
14) window guide driver side broke today (pending a lot of job this week)
15) Water reservoir of radiator broken (done obviously)
16) roof lining peeled off (pending no color match found)
17) gearshift started to loose it's plastic cover (and it will be loosing the rest because this list is eternal...)
18) airbox thermostat cleaned
19) airbox to engine hose replaced
20) missing aluminum hose from manifold to airbox (no one seems to have one)
21) climate control knobs won't turn because broken... (pending)
22) number two cable was dirty (oh yes this gave me trouble until I found what was bothering)
23) doesn't have a/c
24) rear defroster is practically useless

And I think I'm really Forgetting something else.

So that is my pending never ending list.

Sounds about right. I always likened it to having a clingy, expensive girlfriend. She's worth it most of the time, but a real PITA sometimes :D

But it's just a fantastic car to drive.

Boy can I feel you brother. You would think after having and working on two others I would give up but no, and R series shows up I can't resist another project. Our love for these cars are a sickness that can't be stopped. :)

Least my weekends working on car keeps me from shopping and yard work.

Have 4 on the road Volvos 3-850's 1-940 Turbo 1 for each in our family, and my wife wonders why our garage looks like a repair shop. Had to put a dry erase board up on wall just to keep track of which car needs what when. Between the local parts shop and FCP they smile when they hear my name. What am I doing for vacation? Working on Volvo's of coarse!!!! Kinda reminds me of the movie the "money pit" but love the Volvo. :D

What really scares me is the wife has expressed that she now wants one. Maybe she likes the time away I spend working on the car.
