1999 Volvo S80 Was alarm standard equipment?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

1999 Volvo S80 Was alarm standard equipment?

Post by Volvo S80 »

Hi,
Yesterday I was washing my car underneath and noticed that there wasn`t the famous alarm siren module so this lead me to make this question, there was the jack.
The car is Winterpacket there is no sun roof and there is a button to turn off the sensors insisde the car that normally would start the alarm, the flashing led near windscreen that doesn`t flash and there is no "Alarm system service required" message.

Can you check the fuses box for "siren alarm" fuse#29? (mine is) and see if it blown or missing? As far as I know the alarm is standard equipment. Hope it helps...

I'd suggest it's not standard.
My late 2000 build T6 doesn't have an alarm module - has the wiring connector but clearly has never had one fitted (no marks on the metal work).

Does anyone know if it can it be retro-fitted? Is it as simple as getting an alarm module and fitting it?

Hi MyS40T4,
I called a dealer and asked the same question about retro-fit of alarm siren module and the answer was yes if the car has the wires, connector, alarm led near windscreen and the fuse for the alarm module.
But it has to be a new alarm siren module ( because they can not install the program on the 2 hand ones). So we came to the cost new alarm siren module 170$ and installing the program 45 $ plus the cost of installing the alarm siren module that i don`t know because if im going to do this job I will do it by myself.
Is it worth i will say no because the battery inside the alarm siren module will leak in 2-3 year`s period time and nobody is going to steal a 14 years old Volvo.
