1998 XC I have Purchased

Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.

1992 - 1997 850, including 850 R, 850 T-5R, 850 T-5, 850 GLT
1997 - 2000 S70, S70 AWD
1997 - 2000 V70, V70 AWD
1997 - 2000 V70-XC
1997 - 2004 C70

I had mentioned in another thread that I might buy a first year XC.
I did.

Not the one I originally had looked at, but another that seemed to fall in line with my modus operandi.
White.
It wasn't planned, it fell into place that way.

This one is a looker, as far as interior and exterior condition, but suffers from most of the maladies that my other rescues, as well as known XC first year cars have in common.

I will diagnose as I go, But don't plan on getting the real stuff done until spring.

I have the car at home, but no personal photos. I do have seller photos.

This was advertised at $1,000. The lady tried to talk people out of it, explaining it should go to a "Volvo enthusiast".
You know what that means. She also had explained the fact that every time it went for repairs, it was $1,000.
She had owned it for the past 4.5 years and said it had served her well.
I did not barter.
I bought it sight unseen. After seeing it, I am still not disappointed.
It's in the driveway.

Spend time and fix it up really good, then sell and make a profit.

Install some blue silicone hoses so the engine looks sexy.

PS: How many miles, it looks good though?

I bet he keeps it. He's like me, he needs a lot of shit to do to keep himself out of trouble.

It is a nice car. White is the best.

Nice score! I love the way that wood grain warms up the dash

I bet there are fewer than 6 minor things wrong with it... :-)
