So, I'm putting new pads and rotors on my v70.
Please, please, explain how to put the heavy spring clip back in? I have new ones with the kit and I have tried every manner to put it back in. I saw a guy online just clipping it back in with his hands. I tried that, but the little bend on the end of the clips will not go into the holes properly and it pops right off.
PS: in that same video when the guy is putting the wheel back on, I noticed the clip was missing...
This is driving me nuts.
Thanks, Terry

They either pop right in or you will fight them forever, especially when new. I use a set of strong long nose pliers. Fit one end and the end loop in the lower end, put the locating pin just the upper pin hole, and while firmly holding the pin in place, slip the upper loop in place. I have never found an easy way to fit them. A lot of very strong engineering language gets used.

Thanks for the reply. "strong engineering language" LOL. And safety glasses should be worn as well, because they fling out. I left it and went out for a few hours downtown, will tackle it again tomorrow.....

After fighting through a couple of dozen brake pad changes, and a lot of swearing, the method that works best for me and what I have in the tool box is to get one end totally seated and then use a large pair of channel locks to get the other end started. While holding the end that is just started with the pliers I use a large screwdriver to pry the clip up over the ridge on the caliper. From there I just tap the second end in until it is fully seated in the hole

Thanks Lee, I'll give it a shot, that so far has held the most promise in my trials....from what I see...What I have come to realize, comparing the old and new spring, is the old one was broken at one end- at the tip which goes in the hole. It was just the side force of the spring which kept it in place but allowed the caliper to rattle. People on the sidewalk would look at the car funnily as I clattered my way along the streets....

My calipers look like those on your pic thread. However, I have seen calipers on the net, where the spring goes under the ears behind the outer pad, so hence a shorter spring. I think that is what came with my kit as the spring is impossibly tight - I just cannot imagine it going on in the current configuration.
I think the spring is to fit a caliper like that in the pic. I know the file says rear brakes, its just for an example.
