2000 V70 XC AWD SE Dog Hair From Defroster Vent

We recently discovered that my car, which was acquired from a towing service did not have have a working heater core. The car had a lot of dog hair in it. After the heater core was replaced I noticed that the windshield and windows did not completely defrost. The mechanic cleaned the windows for me but I later discovered a clump of dog hair sticking up out of one place in the skinny defroster vent that runs the entire length of the dash. I grabbed all I could with my fingertips and picked a couple more out at the same location with tweezers.

I would like to know if anyone knows exactly from where dog hair would get inside there and how I find out if there is more without removing the entire dash and how to remove the rest of it if there is any. I had asked the mechanic about it after the fact because I didn't think to tell him about it beforehand.

My guess is that it is some rodent hair. Have you checked the cabin air filter? Probably a nest in there.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe you I didn't read all of my original post. The car came with dog hair in it.

I subscribe to Robert DIY and saw that video. My cabin filter was just replaced with a charcoal filter and there wasn't anything in there but 130,000 miles of dirt and bugs.

I showed the picture of the dog hair coming out of the defroster vent to the mechanic and he's guessing that, because dog hair just floats around that over time and with no use -- because the heater was disconnected -- that hair entered the vent and pocketed in there until it was dislodged after the heater core was replaced.
