Bought a new to me 2004 xc90 with 95k on the odometer. The dealer had a fresh oil change done to sell the car, but I have no idea what oil he used. I ordered Motul 8100 5w30 x-clean and filters from FCP, but now realize that the x-clean is more diesel specific. Euro spec 4 and 5, ACEA C3, API SM/CF
Volvo's recommended oil is ACEA A5/B5
So does the oil I ordered exceed the specs that Volvo calls for? or is it just different specs and I should NOT use it?
Should have just bought the FCP "kit" oil (Castrol/Liqui Moly/Etc)
I'm planning on a transmission flush with the correct JWS3309 fluid etc...
2004 XC90 Motul x-clean oil?

This is what I do:
- Mahle oil filter is about $5/each.
- I change mine every 4K-5K as I don't want to deal with oil sludge.
- Forget all those Volvo specs, just use any good synthetic oil.
FYI, non-synthetic is fine too, this is what came with the car from factory.
So, the key thing is change interval, and not so much synthetic vs non-synthetic.
I know some Volvo with this engine with 300K running on regular non-synthetic oil @ every 5K.
