1994 850 Fuel gauge/sensor malfunction

Post by olipocoloco »

Hi guys,

First post here, i am pleased with any info.

I have searched and read and asked around, downloaded wiring diagrams,
i am an elektromechanic myself, BUT...

>>>This 850 I have since 2 months rides well for its 245.000 Kms.

You have to know that this 2.0 20V AT has been assembled fully in Belgium, as is where i live,
And that this 850 has LPG (from a brand named "Vialle") installed as well.

Now i recently installed a new audiosystem, shitty as the dashboard with casetteradio setup was.
As i did this i also removed a complex 90's BOSCH alarmsystem, that did not function anymore anyway.

The car's fuel gauge functions driving with the LPG and Gas, and accordingly shows the levels.

I removed all wiring, and seems that under the dash located at the left side, Left Hand Drive side to say, wiring from the LPG box and wiring from this Bosch box were meeting with the original wiring loom.

Nothing special, i tried my best to keep everything as it should be.

I fixed 3 cables, to explain some more:
*Violet (which is the door lock i assume)
*Yellow - Grey (which is fuel sensor as the diagrams state)
*Pink - Grey (still looking)

Now i am left with just uncomfortably continue searching, and as i have seen there should be a wiring connector on the right hand side, next right to the "glovebox" as well, with fuel sensor wires there.

Anyone with a little technical info, or i do not know, maybe it is a OBD thing, i need some help,
or i am left with guessing the amount of fuel in BOTH gas and LPG tanks.

Thank you, and greetings from this side of the world.

At least you have lpg level meter on the lpg tank.

Since you have lpg system installed i can't comment about this, but if fuel level sensor itself is bad,you can remove it from the tank, clean it and it's contacts and re-install it.

That's what i did about 3 years ago,but i had intermittent fault with it.Sometimes it worked and sometimes it wouldn't.After cleaning it,it works normally.
