06 XC70 Where is the AC pressure switch location

Post by hueby »

2006 XC70 - My volvo mechanic suggested I change out the AC pressure switch near the compressor to fix some weird CELs issues I'm getting that are all shared by a common wire in the 5v system. Anyway, I was told the front bumper needs to be removed to get access. Either way, I've looked around and have no idea where this switch is located. Can anyone help?

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

its on a A/C condenser canister lower passenger side of the vehicle once you take off the front bumper it will be right there
note: will need to drain AC refrigerant first

Thank you for the clarification. I was reading around on if I needed to drain the refrigerant first and found mixed results. Some claimed the high pressure switch has a schrader valve underneath it, but it may be for earlier/different platforms I guess. Have you heard of this?

I have not heard anything about having a valve there but its a easy try, disconnect the electric plug for the switch and give a slight twist with a wrench ( keeping your face away as far as possible ) and see if freon starts hissing out of there do not go too far there is a really high pressure there, if so twist it back shot and drain the freon, replace the switch and fill it back up. note driving with no freon can cause your cooling fan run on full speed.
