OK, so used the CRC to clean the MAF and sprayed a little brake cleaner on the hoses to check for a vac leak (car continued to run, no impact). New code came up as p0507 (Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected).. keeping in mind I had just gotten P0068 (MAF/Throttle Position).
I also went through the XeMODex ETM flow chart and with a consistent problem (not intermittent), and no apparent vac leaks I think I am headed for a new ETM. Although I did read Don's ETM Room, but it was not really helpful, likely because we have limited history with the car (may 6k)
So I am looking at XeMODex ($439 - $499 swap) and Sacer ($129, rebuild your own). Any experience with each? I don't mind the car being off the road, but I don't want to deal with Dealer/Software if I can avoid it. I hear XeMODex is essentially THEM using the Sacer kit...
I just changed the fuel pump, and although unlikely, I may replace the fuel filter to eliminate one more thing...

If your MAF is overeporting you'll have car idle higher, is it? And then, that may trigger your code. Only way to tell is look at MAF level with engine running. If you see oxygen sensor 1 reading correctly and fuel trims around zero it's a MAF issue.

OK, So I sprang for the Sacer and installed it myself. Not a terrible process, since my car is non turbo. A Dremel is a must. Its installed now, and with 10 minutes in the driveway... I am still no where near 100%. The crazy high idle hunting thing is not happening anymore, but the car is stalling 1) while idling, 2) when shifting into gear (auto), and 3) when I put on the A/C etc (although #1 happens as well, so I am not sure putting a load on it actually makes it stall).
I have no OBDII codes at the moment. The battery died, so its charged and I'll take another go of it tomorrow.... Maybe some more run time will kick out a code. While not happy about rebuilding the TB, but its a known issue, and its done now.... Is it possible I did it wrong?
Should I order an MAF to try to eliminate that? (OEM is $280, but aftermarket is $50, which i'd spring for..).
AM update - Car is throwing P0507 code again... after the Sacer rebuild... I plan to try to test the MAF once my son gets home (planning to use a multi meter so I need two people).
