1997 V70 dipped beam not working

The dipped beam on the nearside of my 1997 V70 is not working. The bulb failure light on the dashboard has come on.
I changed the bulb for a new one but still not working . Then swapped the bulb over for the offside still no good.
I then checked and changed the fuse F22 but still no good. Can any kind person suggest what the problem might be.

There was a problem with the wiring harness in the headlamp assembly on the 70 series cars. There is an updated wiring harness available through the dealership if that is indeed the problem. To see if your car indeed has a faulty harness remove the cap that covers the back of the lamp and inspect the plug and the wiring for any signs of melting or charring. It is normally pretty obvious with a visual inspection looking back into the housing.

If that wiring indeed looks good then you will need to break out a voltmeter and start tracing. The headlight relay would be a good place to start from. You will need the schematics if you go that route, they are available from this site but they are frustrating since the pagination is messed up on the .pdf scans.
