Recently failed New Jersey inspection because, apparently, the OBDII components responsible for communicating about emissions are "unsupported."
Specifically, the inspection report notes under OBD System -- Readiness Status that the following items are "unsupported:"
engine misfire
fuel system
catalytic converters
heated catalytic converters
evaporative system
secondary Air Injection
a/c refrigerant
oxygen sensors
oxygen sensors- heaters
EGR System
"Comprehensive component" whatever that is, is listed as "ready"
Any idea what's going on here? My cheapo actron scanner said that 4 "monitors" were "ready."
First inspection fail was at mileage 107,777. Reinspection was at 108,108, so I put 300 plus miles on it before the reinspection.

Seems like this could be "drive cycle" related. Guess I've got to get out on the highway for a bit.

Sailed through inspection this morning. Prior difficulties in passing appear to have been drive cycle related. I didn't try and get too fancy with the "drive cycle." I just drove around for a couple days. Never managed to get it on the highway. Most of the driving was around 45 mph and 1500-2200 RPM which seems to be the sweet spot for drive cycle purposes if you're doing it by the book. I didn't really do too much of the engine braking that is specified as part of the drive cycle and I wasn't paying attention to how long I may have been idling in drive. I'm betting I traveled less than 100 miles from my prior failure and I had the battery out of the car this past weekend to do a PCV service.

Hi,
Happy to hear you got it through. I am facing this new thing too they call a "drive cycle". Very strange that they should need to do that in this so called modern era of electronics and technology.
I read all the time that Volvo is a good car though, so lets hope it works out in the long run

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.
