I think my rear calipers are ok for now, but I am concerned that as Blockpartie suggested the calipers for the rear are NA. What do you do if they need to be replace? Is there somewhere that can repair them or can sell a piston and seal kit?
Part # is: 9492235/6 (LH and RH).
I am especially ticked as I have a set of brand new vented Volvo rear rotors waiting their turn to be needed.
What is it on the calipers that wears out other than the pistons rusting or seals failing? I know the slider pins wear but is there anything else to watch out for?
Thanks,
Neil.

Not Available.what do you mean by "na"?
Have you tried an auto parts store for a set of reman calipers? On the last rear caliper I bought they charged me about $10.00 more for the core than they did for the caliper itself. They really wanted it back.
While I doubt anyone will stock them they may be able to get them. You should be able to get piston and O ring kits but my guess is that they won't get the parts right unless you pull the pistons and measure them with calipers that get them to the nearest thousandth.

Separate issues...
1. Rear caliper is N/A, I need to verify this...
2. Very often the nut (where the metal line joins the Rear caliper) is seized in place. I have heated with propane torch and it didn't budge.
When dealing with seized nut, the BESt option is to rebuild the caliper in situ.
- Remove the piston, if still good, then re-use it.
- New Seal and Boot.
Then you will be good for another 100k.

1387592 is protecting plate, not the Rear Caliper per se.Blockpartie wrote:Do me a favour and buy 2x #1387592 from any website you like. If you get them I will repay you every single $.

You can buy a rebuilt caliper from dozens of places. Local parts store as Lee suggested, or any of the online vendors.scot850 wrote:I think my rear calipers are ok for now, but I am concerned that as Blockpartie suggested the calipers for the rear are NA. Am I missing something here, is that not a decent alternative? Does the 00 R have different calipers?
