FCP's handy-guy shows how this quick replacement kit can save a ton of time and maybe some money?

Thoughts?

It would be good to know what brand spring seats they are using on this assembly. Because these are a known early fail point, I would not use anything but the improved XC90 type genuine Volvo spring seat.

With a good quality set of spring compressors and air tools you can change out the hardware on a strut in less than 30 min.

Agree not much of a time-saver there if you have the basic tools (I don't use any air tools even, just need the spring compressors). You shouldn't need to do this job more than once every X years, in my C70's case I only replaced the front struts after 250,000 km / 13 years!

Just FYI dosbricks: Volvo now uses the XC90 seat for all P80 applications, it is the same part number.

Yup, I was just using that as nomenclature.

They were in my in-box from FCP. I would like to know the manufacturer of the dampers?

Are they serviceable, or throw away?

I now, after looking at this again, understand the purpose for this kit. It is genuine for the non-wrenching, (nor wanting to wrench) with some extra cash that needs to use/sell the vehicle in a short period of time.
Not for the enthusiast that cannot let go?

It will be a spring that will soon sag, a strut with no manufacturers name, a shitty rubber spring seat and an upper strut mount that will fail in half the time or less than the OEM. Just say no.

I was thinking maybe a rep/tech affiliated with FCP might check in on MVS re this offering. A detailed response to ThommyKent's comment from them would be helpful.

some people like the ready-to-mount assembly. I personally do. Backup car or maybe your girlfriends DD? Just want something convenient and quick to install? Maybe its the right fit for you. The comfort is good on these. I have been a fan of the 'Gabriel Ready Mount " strut kit.

Like you guys, I looked at this when it came in in, in my e-mail but dismissed it as I don't need any just now, but mainly as there is no breakdown of what parts are used and who made them. Can't argue with the price, but would like to know what I am buying.

Got a similar offer in from eEuroparts, but their strut assembly is nearer $700 US for 2. PArts are ok and use Sachs struts.

Try this link to see what parts are used. Only 1 URO parts part used and it is the top washer.
