2000 S80 T6 Code p0751

Post by BobbyMang »

Hello all,

Merry Christmas for all who are celebrating! It seems like my car's giving me a bit of a christmas present as well. I was driving on the highway yesterday and when my car was shifting from 3rd to 4th gear, it had a difficulty in doing so and sent the car into what I think was failsafe mode for the transmission. It would not come out of 3rd gear the whole way until I shut the car off and turned it on. The car gave me a p0751 code and a "Transmission Service Urgent" message in the info center. The code states that shift solenoid A is poorly performing or is broken, but when I shut the car off, turned it back on, and drove it, it drove fine except the shifting points were later on in the rpm band. This is also only happening when in automatic mode. The car shifts readily and normally when I use GearTronic. Could this just be the engine speed sensor acting up? I would actually be quite relieved if that were the case. Let me know!

For anyone who is wondering, it was the 4th clutch hub shaft. The parts on the 99-02 models dont have hardened splines and they strip after a while, causing a loss of 4th gear. Hope this helps someone.

I know it's been a while but if you still frequent the form can you tell me how you determined it was the 4th clutch hub shaft and what it cost to fix it? Sounds very similar to the problem I'm having with my 2000 s80 t6, but I'm not getting the p0751 code.

Thanks.
