1997 960 loses power
WSE arrow was on intermittently for about 2 weeks. Then car suddenly lost power after a very short drive. Mechanic and I experimented: car would drive from COLD start for about 2 minutes, would lose power, and had to sit till cold. Then would drive for about 2 minutes. Reading many posts indicates probably PNP switch problem, but I'm not sure because no one else mentions this cold/hot aspect. Is it the PNP? (Note: I can't afford to get it towed to get it coded.)

I know nothing.......but any temperature sensor should be ohm spec'ed.hvsk wrote:COLD start
Electronically shifted transmissions use temp readings....along with engines.
If engine power is being derated, it could point to a sensor.
Hence, ohm spec all relevant temp sensors, and while you are there, use contact cleaner to clean, and apply Dielectric Grease onto terminals.

The video above shows how to locate the on board diagnostics (OBD) plug on your 1997 960, how to read the trouble codes and how to reset or clear the check engine light using a scanner on your 960.

I have turned off Page Style when I visit this site, but here is the link to transmission stuff.
There is a OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR, and there is a
Torque Limiting TC2 (1) 4-2-2
Torque Limiting TC1 (1) 4-2-3
codes.
I would check the TORQUE LIMITING SIGNAL VOLTAGE also.
Just scan thru this document.
