1995 850 Transverse arm mount right

Post by chrillew »

Hello

I swapped all my bushings out in the rear axle, except one. 1 bolt has rusted into the aluminum bushing.
How do i get it loose? heat? ive smashed it with a big hammer but wont budge.

Its the one on the driver side of a US car. And to be able to remove that alu bush, do i have to lower the whole delta link on the right side to get it out of position aswell ? I havent seen any write ups for that one.... But biggest prob is that damn steel bolt jointed to the aluminum..

Please help, need to align this sucker :)

I have just replaced the arm mounts on my 850 a few weeks ago. I have a somewhat useable manual but is in german...

@The bolt:
I also had one that was impossible to get out. My solution was using a cutting torch, melt through the mounting and through the bolt on the top and bottom. It was one of these bolts:
Maybe you can use some saw or grinder to cut it, but I had nothing that would fit.

@whole process
If I remeber correctly:
- loosen rear right shock upper mount and remove from the bottom mount (jack up spring etc)
- remove spring
- put shock back on lower mounting to keep everyting secured
- loosen/remove all the bolts for the arm mountings and the right ball-mounting thingie connected to the chassis and also the right sway bar mounts
-then you can move the arms around somewhat and remove the right side mount.
(I think then you were supposed to reinstall the new one. Can't remember if I did that)
- same thing to the left shock absorber +spring as to the right
- I was able to do the left mounting also by undoing the left sway bar mounts and wiggling everything around... It was not easy but it somehow worked and I was able to install both new mounts, I think I did the left one first and then the right. This was not according to the manual where they described the whole thing again for the left side...

All in all It is a lot of work, but was not as hard as I expected. Still took me around ~6h alone with all the prep work etc. and re-painting the springs (rusted).

I attached the manual (German! and bad image quality), maybe it is of help to someone (I also only found it somewhere in the net)

Thanks alot. seems a bit clearer now :D Think the most work is to get that bolt out of the way. Looks like its not enough space for a grinder tool where it sits, the "L " bend on the axle makes it near impossible to cut on the right side i guess. As in this pic from the thread u linked. its the same bolt that wont budge.
Well if he made it possible to cut it, there has to be a way :roll:
