2010 XC90 R-Design - Rotor Size ?

Post by Toppa »

Hi Guys,

First time poster, so be kind :)

Ive checked all related posts re rotor size and had thought that my recently purchased R-design would have the 336mm rotors. I thought id check with the dealer to make sure. I gave him the VIN number and comes back saying they are 17" (430mm) rotors ! I cant find a 430 rotor mentioned anywhere in google.

Failing any feedback here, ill have to take the rim off and measure. On the rotor itself there is what i think is a part number, but i didnt write it down. It did also say Min thinkness of 27mm if that helps? By the way the rotor is way under this (27mm), hence the new rotors.

Have i missed something, or is the dealer on drugs?

VIN: YV1CT7146A1558433

Part number on the rotor is 30793683. A quick measure shows me its nowhere near the ridiculous 430mm as stated by the dealer. Looks like im taking the wheel off tonight!

Ok, so went to take the tyre off, and it appears the car is not supplied with a jack, or its gone missing with the last owner. Mind you its an R-Design with no spare, so perhaps no spare = no jack.

Anyway got the wheel off and measured the rotor the beast i could without calipers. 328mm it looks to be, not big enough to be 336mm so ill be ordering the 328 and hope im correct.

Anyway, thanks for listening. Love this site by the way. My other car is a landrover discovery, so im almost a certified mechanic because of it! Im not expecting the XC90 to be anywhere near the labour intensive love of the disco, but im keen to have a crack at anything i can that presents itself on this vehicle.

So it turns out my rotors are 328mm. Volvo part number 31400893. I wanted dimpled aftermarket rotors but I couldnt find any in this odd size in Australia, so ive had to opt for the OEM Volvo rotors. 2 x front rotors and pads to suit from the dealer come in at $500 approx including a little discount. Bit more than I wanted to pay for standard equip but I need it for the roadworthy certificate due next week!
