Sorry I haven't been around....busy closing a school down

The following articles are about the school where I am principal...been there full time for the last 10 years, 16 if you include a part-time stint I did before that.

I will still be with the school until June to completely close up the place, after attending another closing party in Tokyo on 3/31 with over 600 alumni and friends attending (leave for Japan on 3/27). I'll be in Japan after the party until 4/8, so sorry again if I'm not around much (will try to periodically check in on my laptop from the hotel). l am trying to give away a Japanese library of close to 30,000 books and many cultural items to an organization that will use them but so far no luck. If anyone knows a college, university or other group that can use them, please let me know...I want to keep the collection intact if possible.

This is a sad time for all concerned. It is a pity that the terrorists appear to be winning in even this part of life.

We have a Japanese University in Durham. I don't have the links with the University that I had before I retired, but I occasionally visit and I have always found the Japanese to be most friendly and eager to learn.

I hope all goes well for you in the future.

Here is what i have done ...

contacted several canadian schools and interest groups as well as the Japanese embassy to see if they can make use of this.

Have you tried the embassy there?

Let me know where they can contact you?

Yes, we have contacted the embassy and they are actually helping. Thanks for the link....I am familiar with the organization in Osaka...I actually lived in Osaka as a child. However, we are doing everything possible to keep things over here in the States, or at least North America.

Since my original posting, we've had some good inquiries, so maybe one of these will pan out.

Guys....really appreciate the concern.

Oh yes, thanks...I guess I saw the URL and assumed something. Anyway, I checked it out...actually we're listed in there too! However, almost all of the schools on the list are Japanese Saturday schools and we have contacted many of them in the U.S. Trouble is that almost all of them rent space on others' campuses and don't have the room. We are however talking to Keio Academy in N.Y. They were second to us in becoming fully accredited in the U.S. and have a week-long school with a good number of students....
