2006 XC90 T6 AWD - hesitation in acceleration after up shift

Post by matt_linegar »

Hi all

Under mild acceleration there is a noticeable drop in power as the gearbox up shifts - sometime surging once or twice before consistently accelerating again. This isn't noticeable on gentle acceleration and is only slightly noticeable on full acceleration.

I had always put this down to the big jumps in ratio between the gears on the 4spd gearbox but it definitely seems to have become more noticeable recently which is leading me to think there is a fault either with the gearbox or engine.

To be clear there is no clutch slip with the auto, the engine revs just drop off almost completely.

Any ideas anyone?

Matt

Normal how many miles etc... Are you due for plugs, MAF/ETM cleaning, is PCV good, turbo hoses etc.

I know just the surge you describe...I know I need to do the ETM and PCV on ours, but it's our pack mule until I get a couple things squared away on the rest of the stable.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
