I've had this code plaguing me for a while. 2.4na 115k miles
Symptoms:
rough idle, more common with cold engine or when warming up. RPMS drop and engine sounds like a diesel or I've got a really lopey cam.
I can correct idle by raising the RPM to near redline then letting it drop. No drivability issues except for a little slow starting from a stop.
First time this happened was after I had got a sudden studder from my engine in a high-rpm sharp right hand turn (remember VVT solenoid is top right of engine). I was winding up 1st gear around the turn out of a parking lot and it felt like there was a rope behind my car and it got a solid tug backwards. I think I starved the VVT solenoid of oil and it brought the timing back, causing this 'studder'. The check engine light was immediately on and has been on most of the time since.
What I've done:
removed VVT solenoid and cleaned solenoid with carb cleaner, twice. Even let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Blew out with air hose. No improvement. Checked MAF sensor, checked out good. Cleaned intake valve (butterfly). No improvement.
I measured 4.6 ohms across the coil in the solenoid. FWIW, from what I read about the XC models, they have an exhaust solenoid too and it's supposed to be 3.7 ohm when cold.
Can anyone verify what the resistance should be for the 2.4na intake solenoid?
Thanks!
2003 v70na ECM-640a and intake solenoid? ohms?
