2002 V70 - How to crimp the seat belt strap buttons?

Post by krenekj »

I've picked up a few new buttons for the seat belt strap and they seem to require a special crimping tool to correctly deform the point and keep the two halves secure. My local auto parts stores have no idea what I'm talking about and a web search turns up very little.

Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to secure these little buttons? Any tools?

Thanks!

Ok, so heat it, and then smoosh it?

If so, I can probably use a soldering iron with a fine tip to just heat the pin. Not sure how I could control a cigarette lighter's flame and keep it from affecting the belt.

Thank you!
