Hi. I just bought a 01 v70 xc this summer. When I went to replace the ETM I also replaced the PCV system (the pipe from the oil seperator to the top of the block was clogged completely solid with rock hard deposits). Anyway. After I put the new one in I'm getting smoke coming out the oil dipstick tube and filler cap. I did aggressively clean the PTC, but I guess I have to admit to being a little timid about cleaning out the ports in the block. - was a little worried about pushing things back in. I changed the oil for a good full synthetic 5w 30 (the kind derived from natural gas). The old oil was black and sludgy and probably not syntheti but showed no signs of real trouble. Any advice would be appreciated.
Other things i've recently done include:
Cleaning the MAF.
Changing the oil and filter (Twice)
Drained and refilled the transmission (gonna do it again just before it gets cold outside)
Changed the spark plugs to NGK
Changed out most vacuum lines for new or silicone
New Fuel Filter, Air Filter and Cabin filter.
Changed the front Angle gear oil. (will do the rear as soon as there is a nice day again)

It is good to blow into the block holes with a pipe to see if they are not blocked. It can block inside the oil pan. Some smoke coming out the dipstick is normal, it depends how much and if it seems under pressure.

It might be worth trying some engine desludger if you think it is heavily slugged. These cars like synthetic oil, especially turbos.
I used a Bell performance desludger on my VW turbo successfully.
Shoot a video so we can judge your smoke problem
Oh yeah, have you done the glove test on the oil filler??

I did try the surgical glove on the oil filler cap test. It barely inflated at all(but it did inflate). I'll try to shoot a video when it stops raining.

Here is a video of the smoke after a 10 minute trip down the highway. Sorry. Apparently you can't post mp4 video here.

Apparently. I can't connect my youtube and Google accounts without a wifi account. Or use dropbox until I get too a hotspot to upgrade my operating system. Did I mention I'm north of the 55th in canada's sub-artic?. I don't have access to anything but a cellular network. Would it be ok if I just emailed the video straight to you from my phone abscate?

What exactly was replaced in PCV system? Some people think it's ok just to replace oil separator and cracked tube(s). It's not. The whole system must be replaced, like that: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... rbopcvkit2
