2001 V70 Aisin gearbox TCM-0023 code

Hello there!

That's my nightmare!
V70 FWD non turbo AW55-50 gearbox
TCM-0023 code
the gear box don't find third gear.
from start, it engage 1st, then 2nd, et over rev without engaging third. Si ti shhft to 4 and 5. Several time it lock in security mode, locked in 4th gear.

Already done
TCM update
fluid replacement
3 linear solenoids replacements
2 speed sensor on the gearbox



any ideas?

The 3rd gear band is probably past wear limits and will require replacement.

I successfully measured the B4 piston travel in my wife's 2002 XC70 and found it well out of spec. Once the subframe was dropped and side cover was removed I replaced the 3rd gear band which was almost down to metal. I will link the thread shortly.

I probably should have asked the OP if it happened while in his care or if purchased that way. If purchased this way the 3rd gear band may need to be recaptured because the band bolt was loosened by a previous owner or his/her mechanic.
