help with p0455 code
I have a 98 volvo s70 with the p0455 code, large emissions leak. Wile poking around I found this hose behind the rear passenger wheel. Could this be the problem??

If it is behind the wheel, towards the rear of the car, it isn't it.
If it is inside of the wheel, towards the center of the car, look on the back of the box in the first picture to see if you have an open pipe. That would give you the P0455

^^^ nice to see that the grammar police are on the job today.
OP - yes, that is your problem. That hard plastic line attaches to the rollover valve which is located next to the fuel filter. The valve is white in color (unless heavily undercoated) and is about 1.5" in size with two nipples on it. That plastic line in your picture attaches to the rollover valve using a rubber "transition" hose about 3" long. There is a second line that looks exactly the same on the other side of the valve.
Those rubber vacuum "transition" hoses degrade over time. Once they crack or separate, on goes the CEL and the P0455 code.
Order both of the transition hoses. They are both the same part number. If one is separated, the other is not far behind.

Is that hose something I would have to order online or can I pick it up at a local parts store.

You can use generic hose or one of the many fine vendors that support this ---free--- website of advice using the links above.

Thank you so much for your help. It saved me a lot of blood sweat and tears. Not to mention money.
The Volvo P/N for the transition hoses is 3501350. If you go this route, get the Volvo ones, not the Uro branded ones.
I tried using generic vacuum line at first, but the problem is that the diameter of the plastic line is larger than that of the rollover valve. You can certainly squeeze it on the larger diameter line, but I had no confidence that the stretched hose would not split again due to the tight fit.

I had the same failure of the rubber coupling hoses on my '97 855. I replaced the hoses with silicone and it has been working well so far. I wrote up a short guide loaded with photos here:

Good luck!
