94 850 - Suddenly Door Chime Always On

Post by IG-88A »

So I'm in the process of redoing the headliner. I got everything dismantled last night in prep for the install this weekend. I unplugged fuse 15 to avoid this problem when clipping the visor light wires. Went for a drive to the store last night, and everything was great. This morning, on my way into work, I rolled down the windows for a bit, but decided to roll them up after noticing that the interior light harness, which I have temporarily secured along various points with zip ties, was kind of blowing around in the wind. After rolling the windows back up, there it was. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Fuse 15 wasn't even in play, so I'm at a loss. Also strange is this only happened after the tail end of that harness was blown around a bit. Color me confused. I'm finding it hard to believe that a door latch microswitch would coincidentally fail at the same time I've got the headliner out.

So I went out and pulled fuse 15 before lunch, just to make sure that the snipped wires hadn't contacted anything accidentally and blown it. Fuse looked fine. Reinstalled number 15 and now the chime is gone. Problem solved, for now. Maybe the fuse wasn't making good contact. Who knows.
