Back to Black??? PFFT!!

Post by cvergi01 »

More like back to black, blue, silver, clean, clear, and sexy!

Hey Guys, long time troller, first time poster. So first an introduction...I'm Chad, and I just got my dream car! a 2000 V70xc about 2 months ago, and with your help have done the center armrest, sway bar endlinks, left tie rod, subframe bushings, LED instrument cluster, LED interior lights, adjusted wastegate, broken wires to the rear hatch lock, and some other stuff I'm sure i'm missing. I've been a tech for 6 years, but seeing as how every question I've had has already been answered (with pictures) and every insight for others has already been posted, I've had no need to post! until now...

It all started with a good wash and wax on the car then getting out the "back to black" to get rid of the dried wax and get the trim well...back to black (can't figure out how to get this vertical):

well, as I was working my way around the front bumper, I had the hood open so she could cool down (Wastegate adjustment) and I decided to get the upper radiator mount. well that opened a can of worms! with only a hand towel and very little elbow grease, it STARTED with the mount, then the airbox, various other black pieces, the coolant cap, reservoir, intake manifold, hoses, vac lines...

sorry for no before picture, I got carried away before I thought about it. bear in mind she has 155K miles and certainly looked like it. you can still see dirt in the battery terminals, strut housings, between the air inlet thingys at the top. I had to stop before the sun went down to save time for the wastegate.

Well there you go! I've posted something helpful! Back to black dissolves engine grime like oxalic acid dissolves rust!

Looks good! Nice car! What color is that? Can't tell if it's white, silver, or a very light brown.

Nice!
Looks to me like the Volvo badge was repositioned. There is a chance it had fallen off or was removed at some point. As far as I know, all XCs came with the AWD badge.
