I have had my 99' Volvo V70 for 3 years now, I bought it from my HS Friend's dealership and it has had no issues whatsoever. Recently; the radiator light will come on occasionally, but the temp gauge stays normal, and it still blows chilly cool air. Today; I got to my destination which was about 25 miles away, the light came on, and upon opening the reservoir cap, water and coolant spewed out for a few minutes.

For the past few months; the "Service" light comes on upon starting the car, but always turns off a few minutes later. I am at 241K Miles now, and realize I need to service it soon. I have changed the oil regularly, but this is the first problem I have had.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help!

The radiator light on a Volvo is telling you your coolant level ( plastic reservoir on passenger side of engine) is low.

You never want to take the cap of the reservoir when hot. Spewing coolant under these conditions is normal. For a leaky car, check the coolant level weekly and top it off if it reaches the low line in the reservoir.

The service light is just a timed reminder for oil changes. These cars like synthetic oil.

We should help you figure out what service your car needs at 245k
