Thats a very good pointj-dawg wrote:I use URO and Pro Parts bits where they're not critical. I'm not paying the premium, for example, for Volvo OEM tailgate struts, so I bought cheapos. They work great! And if they fail, it really doesn't matter.
As absurd as it feels spending twice as much for some rubber, though, I bought only OEM for radiator, turbo coolant, and oil cooler hoses. If one of those fails, that matters.

I concur with most of the above posts. DO NOT use URO hoses. I made the mistake of buying the $20 URO low pressure power steering hose instead of the $80 Volvo one. After a while, the URO hose had swollen so much that it made contact with my serp belt, which cut it, and sprayed fluid everywhere.

I believe FCP Euro recently stopped carrying URO brand hoses after a spate of customer complaints. I won't touch anything they make after a bad hose experience.

I think the moderators should make the brand thread As a sticky. It is often asked question and I find with these cars there is only 1 or two brands which are good for each application, the rest don't work well

There is a parts discussion forum already, where branding is discussed.
We can dump it there and leave breadcrumbs here for searches

As a car enthusiast myself I completely understand the frustration of having to do a job twice. In the last few years we have made drastic company changes and have spent a fortune revamping our product line. Today we have seven full-time mechanical and electrical engineers, a material testing laboratory, an arsenal of life-cycle and destructive testing equipment, and a complete library of OEM samples to test against.
Of course the product quality will always speak for itself, but below are a few photos of our current mechanical lab and some testing equipment so you know I'm not making unsupported claims. The photos below are:
1. Our mechanical laboratory
2. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy - This instrument tests plastics and rubbers to verify the materials match the OEM.
3. Universal Testing Machine - This instrument tests the tensile and compressive strength of products.
As part of our continuous improvement process this job will never be complete and I ask that you bring any current product issues to my attention, so that I can have our engineering department investigate them as quickly as possible.

My advice is to rebrand with a new name as the Uro name is not well respected in the Volvo enthusiasist crowd. You may well bring new improved product but it would be hard to change people's mind especially if they had a bad experience. Don't take my word, browse the mvs and sweedespeed forums
And you will see for yourself
Competition is good and it would be great to see further choice with OEM like quality. Post some testing results and good luck

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with mecheng on this. I have had too many URO part failures. Suppliers have replaced the parts with 'good' parts or OE, but that doesn't help me when I have to pull the intake again to re-do the split 'J' hose on the oil separator that split after only 700km! Or the top suspension mount that failed after less than 6 months, or the other parts I have had fail. 'Rubber' (or so called) pipes that swell and go soft are not fit for purpose. You would never get me to use your branded parts again without a lifetime parts and labor warranty to back it up!
Perhaps you should change the company name and then work with the Volvo community to find ways to salvage your product reputation.
Neil.
