Car was running real rough the past few days. Took it to a shop and they said it needed new upstream O2 sensors.
I opted to do this work at home, which might have been a huge mistake.
I just finished replacing the two upstream sensors (with the bosch OE equivalents).
The car started right up after I finished but stalled 2 seconds after starting. After that, it won't start.
When I try to start I notice 3 things:
1) It sounds like there is no compression
2) There is a very high pitch noise
3) After you stop cranking you hear a loud click happening somewhere near the intake. The click sound occurs 3 or 4 seconds after you stop cranking.
Here is a youtube video:
Additionally, I thought I was going to replace the spark plugs as well so I removed all of the coils. I then decided I would wait to replace the plugs so I re-installed the coils. I *think* I put them back in the right order.
Here is a picture:
Any ideas what is going on here. Honestly, I didn't touch anything else so I am a little dumbfounded as to how this could be happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Adam

its probably a sensor like the crankshaft position sensor, or the coolant temp sensor that is prohibiting the car to start. Also, you gotta crank it longer than that, not just a quick 1 second crank. I could barely hear the engine cranking over. If you are really worried about compression, do a compression check.

Yeah id check if you plugged everything back in.
Theres almost no way to plug the coils in the wrong order.
Spend $30 get a scanner and see what its saying.
in the video you only cranked it for a short time so i cant tell if maybe you have a fuel related problem.
Im guessing maybe there was some sort of electrical short maybe?????
Check all teh wires you touched

Another couple of things to check would be the fuse for the ignition coils. It is located in the fuse box under the hood, and next to the air filter box. In my case of this happening after changing spark plugs, the wiring harness had become very brittle and caused the casing on the wiring to crack. This caused a short with wires crossing and burning out the fuse. I am currently looking to replace the entire wiring harness as it's shot to hell. Hopefully your situation isn't as bad.

I believe that the fault is from the O2 sensors because Volvo S80 rarely work with universal O2 sensors, I am saying these because the function of the O2 sensor is to tell other electronic parts for the correct fuel-oxygen mixture, so if the mixture is wrong than the engine won`t start, and I believe that it started for 2 seconds because there was some fuel from the last correct fuel-oxygen mixture. I am saying this basing on my experience on O2 sensors on my S80 and trying to install universal Bosch O2 sensors, it didn`t worked for me neither so I bought some used oem O2 sensors because new ones where to expensive.
